My Lactation Story:

Naïve at the start of my journey, I did not fully understand the gravity of nonchalantly wanting to breastfeed.
Minutes after the birth of my first son, I learned to become a milk source, committing myself to produce and nourish.

Tried over and over I knew I did not want to give up no matter how difficult the challenges remained. I cared for my newborn while battling reoccurring Mastitis accompanied by fevers for the first several months postpartum. I nursed through sleep deprivation and now looking back, understand the importance of the unfound village I so desperately needed and did not have.

My enthusiasm for breastfeeding was born after facing obstacles of oversupply, extreme food reactivity and allergies, torticollis, and more. I got support, was misinformed, and knew I needed to self-advocate and soon thereafter help lactating mothers write their story different than mine.

With each of my three children, has come more knowledge through research and experience. I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist for me and my journey, but now I am an IBCLC candidate for you; for the moms who go into breastfeeding as I did my first time around, the moms whose perception of nursing will be jaded by whoever, for the moms who face challenges but want to persevere, and ultimately for any mom who needs assitance reaching their breastfeeding goals.

With my experience, Raising Motherhood was born, where I prioritize your well-being and aim to empower you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a positive breastfeeding experience. No matter where you are on your breastfeeding journey, I am here to support you; judgment free and with the utmost compassion.

HAPPY MOTHERS

If I could give April 100 stars I would! She has been an amazing provider who has always made me feel heard. She is professional, yet like family, and so knowledgeable about everything birth, breastfeeding, and babies. We needed extra support with supply and latch after our third baby was in NICU and I cannot put into words how encouraging April was. With gentle guidance she gave me different options on how to succeed while caring for a newborn and two toddlers.

April offered me compassionate preconception care using natural modalities backed by science. She had an honest and non-judgmental approach. I am so happy to have her support extending into my postpartum and breastfeeding journey. Whether you are having difficulties conceiving or troubles breastfeeding, I recommend April’s holistic expertise.

After three mediocre experiences with lactation consultants, I knew for my fourth baby I wanted a deeper connection to the person who would hopefully make my last journey the best. I have to say April exceeded all my expectations and more. From the start, my prenatal visit, we had a plan in place on how to manage my oversupply that reeked major havoc with my other babies. April was compassionate and continues to be there for me as a support person not only for my breastfeeding journey, but for any of my postpartum questions.

Being a first time Mom, I had no idea about breastfeeding aside from it being a goal of mine. April came to my rescue the same day I reached out to her and I will be forever grateful for that. She treated me like a friend, built me up always, and most importantly made my little guy and I more comfortable. She released so much of my son’s body tension and we continue to work with her as her knowledge of development and milestones is unmatched.
